The Research Institute for the Humanities (RIH) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) calls for applications for postdoctoral fellowships in the humanities, working within the Faculty of Arts.
These fellowships will commence on 1 August 2025 and end on 31 July 2027.
Fellows are expected to work on a major research project as proposed in their applications, attend RIH events, and participate in the intellectual life of the Faculty of Arts. A proposed project aligning with the current interdisciplinary research projects at RIH will be an advantage. Please refer to the RIH website to learn more about current interdisciplinary research projects.
Qualifications: Applicants must have been awarded a Ph.D. no later than 31 July 2025 and not be more than three years beyond receipt of the doctoral degree at the start of their fellowship. The fellowship appointment is non-renewable and cannot be held concurrently with other fellowships or academic positions.
How to apply: The 2025-27 application period opens on 1 December 2024, and the application deadline is 31 January 2025.

- a cover letter,
- current curriculum vitae,
- an 800-word proposal with a clear explanation of the originality and significance of the research project,
- a writing sample in no more than 25 double-spaced pages,
- contact information for three referees (*we will only ask for reference letters for short-listed candidates*)
Benefits: Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fellows will also be eligible for research support for attending conferences and other scholarly activities. More detailed information will be provided at a later stage in the process.
