Eop001.2 Workshop + Reading Group on Sound at Chuen Lung
Following the panel discussion on “Sound as a Medium of Participation” held in November 2024, we will host a “Workshop + Reading Group on Sound at Chuen Lung” on December 12. This event aims to initiate dialogue between arts practitioners and participants by sharing practice-based creative processes.
The workshop will begin with a listening workshop inspired by the works of Canadian artist Murray Schafer and the local art group Twenty Apha, followed by a reading discussion on Jean-Luc Nancy’s concept of “listening” and the theory of the “anti-ocular” turn-in knowledge acquisition.
In the second half of the workshop, participants will engage in a field recording session to explore Chuen Lung from an auditory perspective. Chuen Lung, one of the oldest Hakka villages in Hong Kong, is renowned for its watercress farming and offers an alternative to urban living on the outskirts of the city, near the summit of Tai Mo Shan. The workshop will be facilitated by local artists, Edward Lo and YIM Sui Fong.
The workshop will be conducted in English.
